FAQs

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture should not be painful. The needles are manipulated to make the acupuncture points ‘wake up' or ‘switch on'. There can be various sensations that people struggle to describe, and it very much varies from person to person. Common words that are used are: a dull ache, pulling sensation, a bit tingly, feel warm or cool.

Where do you put the needles?

Your treatment is tailored uniquely to you. There are hundreds of acupuncture points and point combinations to choose from, and I always choose these depending on your needs.

What do I wear?

I encourage people to wear baggy clothing to sessions so that items can be lifted or rolled up if/where necessary. Blankets are used to cover you.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is unique and so there is no rigid formula. We will discuss your requirements and work out a timeline of treatment sessions.

How quickly will I see results?

With regards to how long it will take to see results often depends on how long you have had the problem; this will be discussed but it is usually recommended that 4-6 weekly treatments are required to start to regain balance within the body. Results of treatment do vary from person-to-person and should symptoms improve sooner treatments are generally spread out sooner.
